4 Living Food Groups
Fresh- These are foods which are raw and come right from nature such as fruits, vegetables, roots, greens, herbs, and even fresh seeds and grains. These foods are very hydrating and represent the element of water. (see our FRUIT section for more info on individual fresh fruits and their uses.
Sprouted-Any seed, nut, bean or grain that has been germinated and activated by water, air and light is called a sprout. Sprouts are a great rejuvinator and the chorlophyll rich life blood of the sprout helps to oxygnate and detoxify the body. Sprouts are the element of air. (see the SPROUT section for more info.)
Cultured-Foods that have been pre-digested by enzymes and healthy bacteria are known as cultured foods. These foods build up digestive fire and help to strengthen our immune systems. Cultured foods are crucial in transitioning to living food and are represented by the element of fire.
Dried-When the sun or a warm heat source evaporates the moisture from foods they are called dehydrated or dried foods. Dried food is quite concentrated and is very grounding and represents the element of earth.
